Today a 2006 F250 came in with a brand new set of 37×12.50×20 inch
Nitto Trail Grappler MT’s. The big Ford was sporting a brand new 6 inch lift kit so the new 37 inch skins would fit without rubbing.
If you read the reviews at Discounttiredirect.com about this tire, one thing you will read over and over is how quiet the the Nitto’s are for a MT type tire. I can verify this to be true after driving the truck in these photos with a new set of Grappler MT’s. Very quiet.
The one thing other reviewers didn’t mention that I did notice, was they feel like they have a rather soft sidewall. Most drivers probably will never notice. But I get paid to nit pick.
Performance in snow is reported to be exceptional. Same with mud. A lot of people said things like..
Pile drives though Mud/Snow like a knife though butter, Great tire… Wow!
If you do a lot playing in the mud you’ll like the self cleaning characteristics of the MT’s. Multiple reports verify they do in fact clean out real well with a little blip of the throttle.
I will say I was really impressed by the road manners of this tire. Usually a tire with a tread pattern this aggressive is pretty noisy, bumpy and has lots of vibration issues. NOT THESE. If you’ve been thinking about upgrading from the Terra Grappler to the Trail Grappler, you will probably be very happy.
If you plan of running something like 37′s on an F250, you’ll need to have a 6inch lift to clear those big tires. Just like the the photo below shows. Notice the Nitto’s are mounted on stock wheels and the width of the OE wheel is just fine.
