Hankook Optimo H727

Actual users of the Hankook Optimo H727 rate this tire at 9.75, 9.86 and 10 on a regular basis in the review section at one major online tire retailer. It’s a premium touring all-season tire.  It comes in sizes from 185/65/14  to 225/55/18.

This tire comes with a whopping 5 year 100,000 mile warranty. Originally it was 4 years, but Hankook is so confidant about this tire they bumped the warranty an extra year back in January 2011.  Amazing. Another major online review  gave the Hankook Optimo H727 a high rating for handling in snow and ice conditions. Only 1 other tire had higher ratings from them, and it was much more expensive.

That was in 2010, now at the end of 2011 this tire is currently ranking number 1 against 23 other tires in the standard all-season category at one major online tire retailer.

In a Tirerack customer survey more people said they would buy this tire again than any of the other tires listed. Folks also gave it the highest ratings in the following categories against 23 other tires.  Voted Number 1 in the following categories:

  • Hydroplaning Resistance
  • Wet Traction
  • Dry Traction
  • Steering Response
  • Cornering Response
  • Light Snow Traction
  • Deep Snow Traction
  • Ice Traction
  • Ride Comfort
  • Noise Level
  • Treadwear

Of the 20 reviews I’ve read about this tire, everyone agreed it’s a great tire except for 1 guy who didn’t like anything about it. His feedback seemed really odd compared to all the other responses. One thing that is of particular interest is the people who live in snow country all liked this tire’s snow traction a lot.

Key Reasons This Tire Works So Well In So Many Enviroments

  • The solid centerline rib improves driving feel and stability.
  • Four deep grooves evacuate water quickly from the tread foot print for maximum wet weather traction.
  • Converging lateral slots reduce noise and provide greater stability and ride comfort.  This is the reason this tire works so great in all around use.
  • High density siping really makes this tire work great in snow.

What Owner’s Of The Hankook Optimo H727 Have To Say About It

This is what the typical owner say’s about them:

These tires have been amazing. From 20 below in Idaho with snow packed roads to 120 degrees in Nevada including slick roads from the oil after rain. It has been amazing to me to see how perfectly these tires have handled over the past three years. I love them!!

Pros:

  • Alot of users report excellent snow and ice traction for an All-Season tire.
  • Long life
  • Smooth & Quiet Ride
  • Low Cost

Cons:

Doesn’t have race type response.  Sorry, that’s all I could find when it came to negative comments.

Update: October 2010 | My Personal Experience

I just did a 1200 mile trip all over the state of Ca. and the rental car I had just happened to have a set of Hankook Optimo’s on it. So from my own personal experience running this tire, I have to say they ran pretty smooth and there wasn’t any tread noise and the handling was just fine. Seemed like a very nice tire.

If you’re looking for a tire that has excellent performance in rain, snow and slush, this is it. This is the number 1 tire in it’s category against 23 other tires. Some that cost more money.

    Hi J,
Sorry for the late reply. The shop has been busy. Based on the reviews I’ve read about the 426′s, I’d go with the 727′s. Yes, you’re going to get better dry road handling with the 426′s, but your snow traction with the H727 is a lot better according to multiple reports that I’ve seen. And you’re going to need the money your going to save with the H727′s over the long haul to buy diapers. :-)

    Hi Joe,

I live in Kentucky. It is time to replace our 2009 Toyota Sienna’s tires (225/60/17) and like many others I am having difficulty in choosing a tire. I think I finally narrowed it down to Goodyear Comfortred Touring and Hankook H727. I read mostly good reviews on both tires at Tirerack.com and other online sites. I had some past experience with Goodyear (Eagle), but have no idea about Hankook. I am hoping to get around 50,000 miles from the tires and the price difference is not a big issue. I would appreciate if you let me know which one would you choose and why? Thanks in advance for your response.

    Hi Alper,
Both are good tires and probably about equal in ride, handling, traction etc. Both are original equipment suppliers. Ford is now putting Hankooks on some of their cars. Having said that, I’d buy the Goodyear Comfortred’s. Even though the Hankooks have a little longer warranty, I personally want to buy American products first if all other factors between the two are even.

I had brought these tires at 30,000miles my tires were bald. I had the tire rotations because it comes with the oil changes. So I spent $400and something dollars and the tires is for 100,000 warranty and now I need new tires. They suck
